I was delighted to attend the Didacta – the wonderful and prestigious German education book fair, very popular with teachers, publishers and parents. Few years ago I visited the fair in Stuttgart. I thoroughly enjoyed my day spent at the book fair and was so looked after by my publisher host, editors and teacher friends. I found the environment highly stimulating. There was  lovely, buzzing atmosphere through out the day with thousands of visitors and so many activities for visitors to attend and take part in -including in two of my sessions wit my teacher friend Ingrid Stritelzerber.

My Session

I did two sessions on literature, based on my story ‘ A Pair of Jeans’ with a teacher friend Ingrid Stritelberger.

It focused on using literature to teach English and intercultural dialogue. My story- ‘A Pair of Jeans’ is studied in German schools as part of their Abitur.

Tea forum

I also attended a very interesting session by TEA forum ( Teaching of English Academy) on the ‘Power of Language’ – I joined in too, it was great- could tell, even though it was in German! Nicole Sienkamp of Diesterweg team introduced it.

Books

After my session on ‘ A Pair of Jeans’ with Ingrid Stritelzerberger- I had opportunity to speak to some fans – here discussing my novels – ‘The Holy Woman’ & ‘Revolt’ with one German teacher. Here are three of the books being used in German schools which includes my story ‘A Pair of Jeans’.

Hosts

Apart from my two sessions at the Didacta, I enjoyed spending time with my wonderful hosts and organisers Nicole, Rudi, Roswitha.etc

Children’s bookfair at the Didacta

There was also children’s book fair with lots of lovely toys, books and play equipment for teachers and visitors to see.

Met some German children who also attended the book fair and listened to the wonderful music!
