I had a great day visiting the University of Lancaster’s Modern Languages department to lead a workshop, hosted by the wonderful team and department director Dr. Robert Crawshaw, a personal friend and fan of my work.

In support of a special project, entitled Author’s World, I enjoyed two lively sessions with the staff and students, who are working at different levels up to PHD. We discussed so many topics: authorship; representation and multiple identities; writing processes; sense of displacement; the Middlemarch Dorothea Brooke moments of awakening; challenges faced by Muslims; book covers; the politics of violence; and the contents and themes of my novels, including the short story A Pair of Jeans, which was discussed at a great length.

I presented Robert and his department with copies of Revolt, and the textbook on my work, The Holy & the Unholy. Fantastic event.
