Happy memories of the JLF at Southbank. I thoroughly enjoyed my session on Sunday morning, listening to fellow panellists, hearing their poetry, and a discussion on the difference between Hindustani and Urdu, which led to my input on the importance of maintaining parents’ language as migrants. I spoke about my own experience, and to celebrate Urdu I read a short extract from the translated version of my novel, The Holy Woman – my first public reading in the language, and it was fantastic.
