Activities
I was delighted to celebrate the Chinese new year activities with my wonderful friend, Jenny Wang, Director of the Chinese center in Manchester who invited me. As always she hosted a brilliant event. It was great to visit my sons’ former school – Manchester Grammar – who were hosting the event. Bob Day ( Chair of Faith Network 4 Manchester) and his wife Brenda joined me as well as Sarah Bradley – university student from Manchester I met recently.
There were many craft workshops, stalls and activities for us to see and take part in. Great to celebrate the Mandarin version of my novel ‘The Holy Woman’.

Play – “Diao Chan The Rise of the Courtesan”
For me, as I am sure for many other visitors, the highlight of this evening was watching the delightful play, “Diao Chan The Rise of the Courtesan” by Red Dragonfly Productions & Grist Theater.
Background to “Diao Chan”
The play is adapted from a story in the famous Chinese literature ‘SaGuoYanYi’ translated as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It is believed to be written by Luo Guanzhong, and was published in the 14th century. The novel dramatized the historical events during the end of Han Dynasty.
