I was fortunate to visit a very special school in the industrial city of Duisberg. It is a special school in that it excels in challenging racism by promoting diversity and awareness. I had a great time interacting with the students and teachers, many of whom share my world of multiple identities. The pupils are integrated (German and other nationalities), and they so responsive and happy to share their experiences and views on racism and freedom of speech — even one of the teachers felt inspired to come forward and share his experience of living with multiple identities. Two students later joined me on stage and retold my story, A Pair of Jeans, superbly. It was such fun and very enlightening. Afterwards I took some time out to visit the fantastic mosque of Duisberg.
