I had the pleasure of visiting a special school in Krefeld — I have always wanted to visit a Montessori. What a wonderful experience! The children were so involved, and we enjoyed an interactive session with lots of questions. Three students even retold my story, A Pair of Jeans, in their own words, and they all did so beautifully. Housed in a large, open auditorium in the middle of the school, we discussed a variety of topics, including different writing genres, challenges in the present time for the West and Muslims, and the culture of arranged marriages. It was an absorbing session, and I noticed that the two bus drivers had joined the audience, listening intently along with the organisers and the children. My hosts were great, and we later relaxed together over a meal reviewing the successful event.
