In her strive to support the community, Qaisra became a Justice of Peace (Magistrate) – an honorary role in the office dating back to 1195!

Magistrates, or Justices of the Peace, are members of the local community who act as judges in the magistrates’ court.

Qaisra is delighted to be able to bring a broad experience of life and cultural and educational background to the bench, whilst working with family courts in Greater Manchester.

Only since 1919 women in Britain can become JPs, act as members of juries, and train as solicitors and barristers. Within thirty years, nearly a quarter of JPs were women, and today in England and Wales approximately half of Justices of the Peace are women.
