What a pleasure it was to visit Norbert Gymnasium Catholic School in February when I went to attend the Didacta Book Fair in Cologne. It is a marvelous school in the country side in Dormagen, near the city of Cologne in Germany.

This visit was kindly arranged by my friend Ursula Roth of Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft, Bonn and the school teacher Ursula Lipperheide.

I was given a very warm welcome by the Principle  – Herr Johannes Gillrath who took me on a tour. I thoroughly enjoyed looking around the school including the cloister which is part of the school premises.

Of course it was great as always to spend time and interact with over 150 students in the main hall.

They were so well engaged asked lots of questions. Two of the students  Ian & Caroline beautifully narrated my story ‘A Pair of Jeans studied by them in class. We covered a lot of topics migration,Islamophobia, literature, a pair of jeans, gender, integration, writing as a career, multiple identities etc.

I was also delighted to meet and spend time with the staff all of whom appeared so happy to be working in the school. It was delightful looking around the premises of the cloister dating back centuries.
